It's really good fun to make a Scrapbook after a holiday, it gives you the chance to relive your memories, show off your creativity afterwards & have a keepsake that will last forever.
With some preparation it can be even better! Here are some simple tips to help produce an even better Scrapbook:-
Before You Go:-
-
Keep all the brochures & other papers you have used to prepare your trip. You may also find nice pictures to cut out & use in your Scrapbook later.
-
Make a list of photos you must take: the aeroplane, everyone in front of the hotel, your room, your favourite/the children’s favourite attraction, etc. Take this list on holiday so you don’t forget anything!
Buy:-
When you are there
Keep:-
-
At least three good copies of each park map & other documents you pick up (show times/parades etc.). The maps and pictures are essential for your scrapbook, but you’ll end up cutting them up! So have two copies for cutting up, then a ‘best’ copy you can keep intact. Why not add a pocket to keep maps & info in).
-
Receipts & menus from your favourite restaurant. They look great next to a picture from the restaurant, especially character meals! (they are great to refer back to and compare prices!)
-
Writing in your notebook at the end of each day with your highlights, these notes will be invaluable in organising your scrapbook. My daughter wrote a diary & we have included elements of it into our scrapbook & she appreciates our Scrapbook more as she has participated in it.
-
It is very popular to get character autographs in the parks. If possible take some acid & lignin free paper & an acid free pen - then these great autographs can go straight in your Scrapbook!
-
Any your used tickets & receipts can be laminated & included in your Scrapbook.
-
Keep all your paperwork safe in a zipped plastic folder or similar so nothing gets lost or damaged.
Photos:-
-
Most importantly don’t forget your camera wherever you go – take it in the morning when you’re out to breakfast – in the evening when you have dinner– you never know when you might need it! Keep hold of it though – I took my expensive digital camera to a restaurant in Orlando & it was stolen.
-
Make sure you have a pre-departure photo of the children to record their excitement!
-
Try and get a photo of everyone in your group, at the entrance of each park - with the sign if possible. Most passers by will be happy to help.
-
One of each of you in front of your favourite attraction.
-
Take some photos of your Villa/Hotel, by the pool & in your room. Don’t leave this until the last day – I did that & the last day was a horrible gloomy one & unfortunately the photos reflected that! Also rooms become messy by the end of the holiday!
-
Take a photo of the children at bedtime when they are so tired after walking around the parks all day!
-
If something funny or special happens, be sure to take a photo that remembers it.
-
In this age of digital photography you can never take too many pictures. You’ll have time later to delete the bad ones, but you will never be able to choose the one you didn’t take.
-
Ride photos are expensive, but if they are good they will provide invaluable memories.
-
Buy any postcards to replace any photos that you just can’t take!
